This is My New Year's Resolution(Ripping Off The Sports Guy)

A couple of peoplelet me know that I've been slacking like whoa, so I decided get back into the swing of things with a ripoff of one of my influences, Bill Simmons(ESPN.com's Sports Guy) and do a little diddy called 10 (Of the many) things I love about sports:

1)The swish a basketball makes when it goes through the hoop. It's like a blanket of snow unfucked with. Clean and pristine.

2)The J-E-T-S chant. Short, simple and always gets the crowd going. Shit, I do it at home, albeit in a whisper.

3)An runner getting gunned out at the plate by an outfielder. Vlad Guerrero does it better than every one else.

4) A.I's ugly ass jumper. Watching the Pistons whip the Nets the other day, I was reminded why Iverson's my favorite player. Nobody has more heart(During the game. We're not talking about practice.), He's got the best "dagger" shot(Every shot he makes looks like the spiritbreaker for the other team) & he's a legit badass without being an idiot(i.e Ron Artest et. al.)

5) ESPN's John Buccigross comparing important players on a team to lead singers i.e Like Adam Duritz is to The Counting Crows, Chipper Jones is to the Atlanta Braves. It's great.

6) Hockey. Greatest sport ever. Just accept it. It has it all the speed and skill of basketball and the physicality of football in one sport. There's also the best postseason in all of sports and the sweet beards grown during the playoffs.

7)The first week of March Madness. The next best postseason, IMO. Nothing but basketball on all day(at the expense of Price Is Right, but sacrifices must be made.) played by people who give a fuck about the game and not their bank accounts.

8)Sean Avery. Yes, when you look up douche bag, you will likely see his picture. However, he has that extra intangible that every team needs, a pest. Ask Marty Brodeur, that fat diver.

9)Beckham's free kicks. I swear on Ronnie James Dio that they defy physics the way it bends like its going into the fifth row but all of a sudden the ball takes a "Magic Bullet"-like turn and goes right into the upper corner of the goal. A thing of beauty.

10)NHL's Winter Classic. Outdoor hockey in the cold works. I wished it snowed like last year but I'll take any hockey in the national spotlight.

I'm hoping to stick to a plan of multiple posts a week. We'll see.
